The character issue has to do with the font settings in your mac. You can change it, but I don’t have exact how to do it handy right now.

You will need a router to connect both players to your laptop, or hook them up through usb. If you connect both players with link, they will play whats on cd or usb stick in the other player. I don’t think you can link them by having one hooekd up with usb and the other through the link function. But I’d have to check the manual to make sure. Been a while since I traded them in. Good thing is, you can read the manual too.

I don’t think the 2900s are Serato certified, so you’d need a sound card, controller or mixer that IS Serato certified. The Denon Dl-1 comes to mind, pioneer DJM900SRT, Rane mixers or any of the controllers with standalone mixer features. Unfortunately the MC2000 does not fit the bill. Frankly I think it would have made more sense to invest in a new controller than in two media players, but that’s just my opinion.

Also the Engine software will soon get an update, stay tuned for that.

Update is online. Works with Mac El Capitan and SC2900.
