I’m not sold on name drops myself… I don’t do them myself. That said, it’s perfectly fine for others, it’s just my own opinion for my sound and it’s one I may start breaking in the right setting (like if I finally get ’round to taking a slot on a radio stream or somethin’).

However, if you are producing, I beg of you, please don’t embed your name drop into your released track. I sure as heck don’t wanna play someone else’s name drop in the middle of my set.

I’d make one for ya, I can do good “announcer voice,” but no decent Mic here, sorry. If I get access to one, I’d be happy to. (You shoulda been there the time I performed the real wedding in the club… “LAAAAAADIES AAAAAAND GENTLEMEN, WELLLLCOMMME to the MAAAAAAAIN event!” It slayed ’em.)

Haha fair enough, no i dont produdce but i understand not to put a name drop on a track lol. Just want it on a mix for promoting purposes because I normally find DJs through listening to random mixes in the gym and hearing there name allows me to search the net for them.

    Thanks

I personally only use drops when I make mixes for radio or similar online shows. I just found it tacky at a live gig.

How do you get voice drops made on your phone on your computer/

I actively support adding drops to any mixes that are available publicly as it discourages shady managers from just playing mixes aspiring DJs have dropped off instead of actually hiring someone. I know a few venues that had demo CDs on play on slow nights. Very annoying…

But agree – I find them a little tacky at live shows. But you have to do what you have to do to get your name out.

I totally agree with Todd and I use various drops.
    I recommend:
    musicradiocreative.com
Their prices are reasonable, their voice talents are very professional and follow directions to the letter and their F/X and sound department is top notch. So far I am very satisfied with their results.

During a live show shouting your name? eh kind of awkward for me UNLESS you have MC stand by you, its their job to hyped up the night, so might ass well get him/her to drop your name, “Puttt yourr f hands up for Dejaaaay <insertname>”

DJ InsertName, interesting name, not sure I have heard of him/her yet though. 😛
