In Holland where I live there seems to be an ok (if not great) market for used controllers. You have to put some effort into it, but generally you will sell. Biggest mistake is to think that these things hold real value, especially when they are still near-new. I have both bought and sold gear over the internet and I have done some trading of gear. So I cannot say I have been unsuccessful in that respect.

It does depend a little on brand/model.

I think most DJs, who are basically all tech-junkies to begin with, will have one (or more) purchases they regret. Can’t be helped. On the topic of controller purchase, it’s why we advise the way we do. Starting with determining your workflow (and making sure you validate that – i.e. make sure that it is what you really want/need). Trickling down through software choice, then setting a budget, then researching and creating a shortlist, then getting some hands on time if possible. Buying from a store that has 30- or 60-day money back guarantee helps also.

For those that are in doubt we often advise to get a used starter unit (not in your case clearly) so if they are wrong it won’t have broken the bank for them. Clearly with newly released gear that doesn’t work.

Being tempted by all the new yummy things that come out each year is logical and I am sorry you fell for the marketing and the bling-bling.
