Steps for getting your first DJ controller (or upgrading..):
1) Decide on your software. Whether it’s Serato, Traktor, Virtual DJ, Cross DJ, Mixx, DJay Pro, DJay 2 or Traktor DJ.. Try them out (the last 2 are mobile/tablet only) and decide which suits you the best.
2) Decide what your budget is.
3) Decide what features you want from a controller. Sample Pads? 4 Channels? Externally Powered? In Built Audio Interface? Jogs? STEMS support?
4) Take your choices and use it to narrow down the market for you.. You should only end up with 1 controller.
NOTE: Do not use Native Instruments (the people who make Traktor) hardware with anything other than Traktor and don’t use anything other than NI hardware with Traktor.. Hardware is always built with a certain software in mind these days and therefore it works best with that software..
