Here’s an all-time house anthem from the 90s:

Title: Make The World Go Round (Deep Dish Vocal Mix)
    Artist: Sandy B
    Label: Champion

    Genre(s): House, Deep House
    Year Released: 1996

I first heard this tune from a free CD compilation that came with the late MUZIK Magazine. It’s just such a happy tune with a funky beat and enough depth to keep it from being cheesy. I remember hearing it played all over the deep house clubs of Chicago, and I’d still pull this one out to surprise listeners in a mix. Definitely one tune I’d recommend any house DJ should own.

A second one in memory of the 9/11 victims…

    Title: America (I Love America)
    Artist: Full Intention
Label(s): Stress, Polydor, Sugar Daddy, Logic, Big Beat

    Genre(s): House
    Year Released: 1996

This tune was funny for me, as the first time I heard it was on of all places…MTV.

In one of the few times MTV actually embraced DJ and club culture, they were featuring live DJs on their dance show The Grind. Legendary NYC DJ David Morales was on the 1’s and 2’s, and my mind was blown when he dropped America (I Love America). It was just that smooth flow combined with a sampling from disco artist Patrick Juvet. Full Intention just made it work, and I became a big fan.

It’s late, I’m lying in bed, and one more buzzed me and I had to share:

    Title: I Know
    Artist: New Atlantic
    Label: 3 Beat / PWL

    Genre(s): House, Rave, Baeleric
    Year Released: 1991

I remember working out in a gym in the late 90s when this tune came on their music system. I had wondered for years what it was until I came across it on a CD Box set compilation of classic rave tunes.

I had always wished this tune was arranged to be more DJ friendly, but it’s still an anthem. That piano just hooks you and the sample from Candi Station just makes it complete.
