That’s a great suggestion but research tells me that only the sound card will work in DJ Player and not the midi stuff because of a driver issue. Having that big of a piece of gear attached to my iPad that I couldn’t fly use would drive me crazy.

I should have said that my primary iOS program is DJ Player, followed by djay 2. I’m much more of a DJ Player used tho.

im not sure they make a piece of gear like that maybe email into dj player and djay2 to see if they have any compatible devices maybe you could try to use traktor dj see if you like that, and go to guitar center see if they will let you try a z1, I use one and x1 (super portable you can fit them both into the traktor case bag thing)to dj with i use it as my sound card and midi for ableton and all my sound coming out of my MBP on my desk, its a short run of unbalanced I’m not worried about signal loss

Ok, I’m not typing on a cell phone so that should limit the odd spell correction choices.

The z1 looks dope and if I was looking to use it with a laptop for a compact setup, I’d be tempted. Also, it would be pretty good for DJ Player if it worked, but it dosent because of Native Instruments. That makes the z1 a dead end here.

It’s just as well because when I DJ with an iOS device, I prefer to use the on-screen controls. The problem here is that I can’t find an iOS soundcard that seems fit for this task. The focusrite stuff looks the closest but they drop the ball en the end by not connecting to iOS devices without a connection kit.

Could this be an option? It would also provide you with a nice, solid, slanted platform to keep your iPad solidly in place while using the on-screen DJ Player features. It does have some midi features, but that is less interesting to you, right?

(Balande?) Jack outputs, additional XLR inputs (not needed in your case I am guessing. And obviously it would charge your iPad while playing.

I am not sure if you can use the built in “phones” for your cueing, but since it seems to dock with the side with the headphone plug facing outwards, you should be able to plug them in there.

    Hope that helps.

Have you looked into the Traktor Audio 2 soundcard? I confess that I have up til now only used it with Traktor dj ios app (which it connects natively) but the threads here suggest that it works with other ios apps

its a useful thing to have anyway (smaller than a deck of cards), connects straight to ipad (no camera connnection necessary) and you can buy the optional power source separately to keep the ipad charged

I ended up grabbing the Audio 2 as soon as the lightning version came out. Had to spring for the Traktor power supply but now I’m totally satisfied. Best $150 I’ve spent in awhile.
