The DDJ-S1 is very old and I would not recommend it.
By the choice of controllers you look at, I guess you want to use Serato.
So I would look into the following controllers:
    – Pioneer DDJ-SX
    – reloop Terminal Mix 8
    – Denon MC6000
Those are your best bets for mobile DJ use, while the SX is already very big…

LOL@Denon MC-4000. It’s the longest announced product launch ever. I think they officially announced it at NAMM early this year and only in september or october will it hit the shelves I think.

Terry’s list is pretty comprehensive, all three bringing good stuff to the (varying size) table.

I think Terry will agree with me that for pure mobile work, combined with space requirements and indestructible build quality, the Denon MC6000 mk2 pretty much rulez the world. It’s implementation of the mic channels, including on/off buttons, EQ and even simple reverb, beats anything on other controllers (where mics seem to be an afterthought at best). It’s one of the very few controllers to have not only cue mix but actual split cue. Add that it has some features to use with DJ software that utilizes video and it adds to a great package, imho. Mind you, I am a Denon afficionado and I owned and used the first MC6000 for a while. Only ended up with my current DDJ-SX as part of a swap and am seriously considering getting a mk2 if/when money allows.

The only gripe could be the size of the jogs. Having said that, while not very large, they are of excellent quality.

Finally, both the DDJ-SX2 and the MC6000 mk2 support DVS, so should you ever feel the need to add some TTs to your setup to be able to use vinyl to control your decks, you can. Not sure about the TM8 and DVS though, Terry?

    Hope that helps some.
