I pretty much only hear lyrics in vocal trance and it’s usually all chorus. I suppose you could collaborate with a singer to make samples for use by producers but even if you could monetize it it would be really difficult to build that into a serious platform.

Putting aside EDM for now, have you done songwriting in general? Most musicians I know who sing only want to perform lyrics they wrote if it’s an original song. Alternatively they might perform someone elses song if it’s someone elses band and they are just playing in it. There is a place for songwriters in the industry but it will take time to establish yourself specifically as a songwriter.

Commercial tracks do have strong vocals in them.

Yes,I have written full pieces before but also, you are right. Singers would want to sing what they wrote rather than someone else’s words. Well.

Here in Holland I know there are a few songwriters that have their texts sung by many artists. Also quite a few take songs from other languages and create a Dutch text for it. This then gets sung by a Dutch artists.

I am guessing there is work in general lyric writing, but I’d agree with Scotto on the (very) limited options in the dance scene.

EDM lyrics are hardly intricate 😛
Maybe you would be better off writing pop songs and rap songs? These are more lyric based and there are lots of songwriters about. 1 hit can make you. Pop singers are more likely to sing other’s written vocals than rappers, but that’s a credibility issue, we all know Dr Dre didn’t write his own lyrics on The Chronic butdoes anyone care anymore ? I think not.

And DJ Vintage, my Dutch friends told me pretty much all popular non-Dutch songs get their own Dutch language version… I lived with a Flemish guy who would play Party Squad a lot…I saw some Dutch rap act in Amsterdam a while back, but sadly I only know a few words in Dutch, back then almost nothing… The DJ of the night, Flexican, seems to have gotten more fame since then though.
