    Hi,

An audio chain is as strong as it’s weakest link. I’d strongly suggest not going (too) budget on your PA mixer. There are some great 2 mic/2 stereo 6-channel small footprints out there that will fit the bill, but might be a tad more expensive.

One of my favorites is the 3rd Gen Yamaha MG06 (or the MG06X if you feel you need some FX on your mics, which I don’t). It costs about 100 euro. Roughly 130 bucks, but perhaps they are cheaper in the US and you might be able to get them for around the 100 bucks mark.

Some other brands to look at are Mackie, Allen&Heath for example. I’d stay away from brands below that.

Second the Yamaha. I have version with FX.

    Great little compact mixer.

I used to use a Behinrger 802 (Emphasis on used to… It started altering the volume for me, how kind…) – now I use a Yamaha MG10 (3rd Gen) which is infinitely superior – XLR outputs (not to be overrated), better mic preamps, more output headroom and I can hear the difference between them when I use them back-to-back.

For your needs, I would 3rd the Yamaha MG06 (3rd Gen) – It’s around £70 in the UK which should be around $100 USD I think…

Stick with a well known brand, and I would recommend staying away from Behringer kit if you can avoid it – I have had and I have heard of too many more horror stories..

The MG06. XLR outputs AND Jack outputs that you can abuse for some other purpose. And 2 instead of 1 stereo channel (which helps hook up your backup device or a second DJ set for back-to-back DJs).

I third the Yamaha, it is an awesome little tool.

I have tested that Behringer and sorry for anyone who has it, but it is total crap.

Yes. What DJ Vintage said. The Yamaha isn’t very expensive at all for the quality and features you get.

Pro audio gear IS DJ gear. You want the right tool for the job and you want the best you can afford.
