    Frankly, if you plan on playing high volume private parties, the sound quality would not be something I’d be particularly worried about, especially if all other boxes are checked. Add to that the style (rock) which isn’t all that prone to quality issues (bit odd to worry about perfect sound chain to play guitars with a box full of distortion tossed in 😛 )

    I’m gonna co-sign all of your requirements as they’re mine too. You could try a mixtrak edge with a, external sound card (as the onboard sound isn’t all that great).

    Well, the Edge only has two instead of three ban EQ, no pitch faders and DOES have wheels. So it doesn’t really fit the OP’s wish list.

    Also I am not sure there is even Traktor support for this controller.

    A tiny soundcard won’t be too hard to find and pack in your luggage, so that opens open some options. I’d look at what Faderfox has to offer. Extremely high quality gear, most of it is quite compact, and some of it even comes pre-built into slimline flight cases. They may not check off all your wishes, but you’ll likely get close.

    That’s a good idea. He could also look at that new little Korg Kaoss DJ.

    Hi Juergen,

    check out the novation twitch.
    it’s not the latest controller in the market, but it does support Traktor.
    the sound is good enough, at least for me. it will give you all the features you described, and then some more. oh and size wise, you would be happy with it as well.
    i did play out with it a lot and used it for playing rock, soul, pop, disco etc when i was with my band.

    regards,

    @DJ
    Vintage … If you ever come to Southern Spain, let me know and I will give you a presentation on a 50TEUR stereo (Linn Klimax Exact system) how good quality of a number of rock record is … that’s why my ears are VERY eager for good sound also @parties.

    Todd Oddity:
    The Faderfox DJ3 looks nice, seems to tick the space box. Also the price is a wow. Does your recommendadtion to use a seperate soundcard apply (especially) to them?

    King of Snake:
    The Twitch does not look too small to me and seems to have quite some space-needing properties that I do not seem to need.

    alt.rock:
    The Mixtrak looks good … all I miss there is the pitch fader which seems to be the only “modern DJ thing” I need. But the price is compelling. Anyone a recommendadtion for a good soundcard – and: With a portable equipment, I only have ONE USB port available (one is used for the external HDD travelling the FLAC files).

    Also the Korg looks very nice, and has the pitch faders??

    @all:
    Anyone has experience with the NI Z1 ? Has no pitch, I know, but looks very slim to me, allows for iPad (for mini-parties and “low quali” sound).

    Also, The NI X1 looks interesting as it seems that the FX-controls could be “misused” for pitching.

    The Soundcard of both reads compelling …

    You could always try the xone k2 (k1 has no soundcard) as it has a built in soundcard and has templates for traktor use. You can have 2 pitch faders, 2 channel faders, 3/4 band eq only thing it has no cross fader, but you could always use a different knob or slider for this.
