ModeratorSo pretty much play something you haven’t vetted, haven’t listened to, comes from an unknown device in an unknown source quality or worse even, you haven’t paid for, to incorporate into a live gig?
Apart from it not being a course of action I’d suggest or advice, but then who am I 😀 , it’s a multi-pronged answer really.
Streaming audio from other programs than your DJ software is played from that program to whatever sound card output you direct it. You should be able to pick one of the two stereo channels of the SR I think, but … I am not sure it will play nicely from a mixing point of view. It might bypass the mixer bit and go straight to your SR master output (i.e. you can’t cue/prelisten or use the channel fader to control volume). Definitely something to sort out BEFORE trying this in a live setting.
Audio that IS on your PC/Laptop, but not in your DJ Software. There is usually a file browser option in DJ Software. Open it, go to the location on your harddisk, select your track, load it into a deck, and presto!, it should behave just like a track that IS in your collection.
Playing tracks from other devices, hook up the device to the AUX port of the SR (RCA plug to minijack most likely) and control the volume of the aux track using the knob next to the input. Again, no use of the prefade listening or cueing, no channel fader volume control. Another one to try in the safety of home to see how that works.
Apart from tracks not in your collection but are on your PC/laptop, even if physically possible, you really need to ascertain what makes the missing track so special and important that you MUST play it there and then.
Hope that helps. Good luck

ParticipantI appreciate the very detailed response,
I guess there’s no real reason why that particular track not in my collection would have to be played, but I do know some people who use or stream YouTube music from a request that you might not have in your collection
And when trying that at home the sound just comes out of the computer speakers not through the Mixer and PA

ParticipantThe sound coming out of your laptop speakers is because you haven’t set it right in your audio settings on your pc.
(NOTE: The following solutions do not allow the volume faders to control the output volume of the music and I do not recommend using this system when DJing as any other sound your laptop generates will go through the speakers as well)Windows Solution:
– Right Click on the volume symbol bottom right of your screen.
– Select “Playback Devices”
– Select your controller (output 1-2)
– Set it as default device
– DoneMac Solution:
– Go to system preferences
– Select “Sound”
– Go to “Output Devices”
– Select your controller (output 1-2)
– DoneAs I said, I do not recommend using this when DJing (it is illegal to stream from Youtube or similar when DJing as well) as any other sounds your computer may make (bings.. bongs… email notifications.. etc.) will also go through the PA. There is no workaround to just get the sound from your browser through the PA.

ParticipantThank you for the advice.
I would of course never do this during gig, I was just curious how this works more for home use or if I was in a pinch for a song.
Registering for a pay service which I can download music from I’m sure is the best way, but then I’ll still need to download that file from the website and add it to Cerrado before I can play it correct?
And what is a good pay service website to download music from or stream
