    That’s the first thing I tried. When I start it, the Pitch Fader is in the middle with the yellow light on. Once I start it, the light goes off and it plays about twice as fast as it’s supposed to. The only solution so far is to move the pitch fader up and down to reset it in the middle. Unfortunately, this would sound terrible if I were to be playing live. Strange that it only does this on deck 1.

    Sound like a sync problem indeed.

    Are the tracks identical (or close to) in BPM normally (i.e. without any sync/pitch).

    Normally they’re identical. I have tried other tunes that are no more then 3 BPMs faster or slower and it still does it.

    What software are you using?

    If it is Virtul DJ 8, you need to turn off “autoBPMmatch” in options, I think..
    Go to “Settings”, “Options”, tick the “Show Advanced Options” Button top right, then enter “autobpm” into the search box and it will come up..

    I’m using Virtual DJ 7, but it’s not the Pro version. The only choice I have in the settings is to upgrade to the Pro version in the settings. I can upgrade for free for 30 days to which I might be able to adjust those settings. But If I let it lapse, I’d probably revert back to the original settings. Then again, I never use that laptop for the internet. So, maybe if I got on once and used the free upgrade, I’d be able to keep the Pro version.

    It will reset once the 30 days is up – it will use the built in calendar in your pc to work it out – but it as actually 30 different days on which you open it – so if you only open it every other day it will last 60 days.

    BUT I cannot offer anything (unfortunately) to help further as I am now on VDJ8 and I rebuilt a couple of months ago so I don’t even still have my old install handy to check things… I suspect this is where your problems are coming from though. And, whilst it is fine to use it whilst you are DJing at home, you are not allowed to use it when you Dj out properly (btw how are you using your controller? Do you restart it every 10 mins?)

    I’ve never had to restart my controller. I HAVE had to restart my laptop once. I live in an apartment complex and my manager, who knew I was practicing to be a DJ, asked me to come out and play for a yard sale we were having around the complex last September. I’ve also been asked to play at the pool parties coming up this summer as well. Anyway, as I was playing at the yard sale, the sun was beating down on my laptop and it crashed. I moved back a bit into the shade and restarted it. It was fine from that point on. I’ve since come up with a way to solve that problem from happening again. at that point though, I was playing pre-recorded sets I made from a program I have on my main desktop computer and using the loops, filters and sound effects on Virtual DJ. Now, I’m trying to master mixing, and other then this problem, I seem to be getting the hang of it. I got it down ok, but still have a little work to do to perfect it. Anyway, I get paid next week, so I’ll be able to buy Virtual DJ then, so I guess I’ll do the free upgrade now to pro and buy it next week.

    I’m also thinking of taking advantage of something Phil suggested in the final free masterclass video this week and maybe make minisets of 2-3 songs at a time and see if that works until I’ve mastered it.

    Yep, the mini-sets are a wonderful way to take part of the stress of picking the next tune out of the equation (even for old hands like me), while still being able to quickly shift around in your set and not having to be pre-recorded. The latter won’t work anyway, as no two audiences or nights are ever the same and nothing you can come up with on the couch at home will fit the actual night you have to play it.
