It is a carbon copy of iTunes, which is a little slower and has less features… even on Windows I would rather install iTunes.

    So what you say is:
If you do not like iTunes you can now install a software that is exactly like it (with a little less features and absolutely no support by any DJ software) but does not say iTunes on the label? Sorry makes no sense at all.

Then I wonder why you don’t like iTunes? If it is just the label, then get over it and use iTunes it is much better supported.

I’d have to say I agree with Terry’s reasoning here (and I am no big iTunes fan myself, but I DID get over it for DJ purposes).

but for the mere option of creating smartlists based on folders
    i repeat folders

Sorry but people still relying on folders are stuck in the past.
Even working with something so antique as a file system is funny, because even Windows 7 new take on NTFS is more of a database than a filesystem and the whole structure and drive letters is just to stay compatible.
Having the power of iTunes smart playlists is hands down beating any feature those smartlists have, it integrates beautifully with an DJ software, Mixed in Key and Platinum Notes. You can even have folders if you want (just tick the right thing in the preferences) and make smart list on sort orders.
So I still do not see a point.

Also do not get me wrong. I am no Apple fanboy.
I hate the new MacBook thing with only one port and the Apple Watch is as useless as an iPod toilet paper holder.
But some people just seem to hate something because a company name is attached to it and even on my Surface pro 3 at work, iTunes works nicely as ever.
