Hi, well Phil’s course should be up there on the wish list of course! LOL
As for other gear, if you have the chance to play out, just rent gear. The quality of gear you need to (imho) play professionally (i.e. getting paid for your time, skills AND gear) is such that this will cost you considerably more than your controller. Renting gets you that kind of gear for a small some of money (that you will directly charge your customer for), you can usually cut a deal with a rental company for a 15-25% fee and even make some money on the rental. You get to try out various brands to find out which you like best, while saving up your money to buy something good when the time is right. Which to me would be when I made enough money DJ-ing to pay for it.
And go for active speakers. Don’t mess about with passive speakers and amps. So 80’s!
