Traditionally, You would need a soundcard with 4 mono or 2 stereo outputs if you are mixing inside the software. This is so that you have 1 stereo out dedicated to your speaker output and one stereo output dedicated to your headphone out.

So, I would say that you need a 4-out soundcard for that. BUT this depends on how you link maschine to traktor. Can you route the audio through your PC without needing to send it through a soundcard?

The Traktor Audio 2 has 2 x stereo outs and so would do the job for you, also worth considering is the Numark DJ-IO, which is a bit cheaper but similar in functionality.

The Novation Audiohub looks like a decent bit of kit (and according to their website it is the same on the inside as my focusrite 2i4) but it requires external power, you don’t need the USB hub and it is much bigger physically than either the Audio 2 or the DJ-IO..

    Thanks for the reply Bob6397
As I haven’t tried running maschine and traktor together yet I dont know what way it will work out
I have just got an NI Audio2 off eBay for £40 so will give it a go and see what happens
I want a modular setup as I work away from home and need to carry gear on to planes every couple of weeks ( I have 2 mk1 machines though, one at home and one away

    Thanks again Bob6397
Don’t know why but my posts keep getting cut short.
The Audio 2 is secondhand which is why it was cheap.
I have seen the NI setup instructions before and will give it a go as soon as the sound card and MM1 arrives.

At home I currently use the BCD through an old Rotel amp to drive Gale speakers, I will probably change this out for some KRK Rokits when funding allows.

I will keep you posted how I get on

    Thanks again

I have no intention of ever playing live anywhere, this is just a hobby for me.
But thank you for your most helpful reply Analdi

I hope that was sarcasm there Arnaldi.. 🙂

I see no problem using this setup live, if you ever get that far, other than you would need a while to set up and make sure it was all working properly 🙂
