    That’s tough going …

    Think your unlucky, its funny how a lot of stuff which you would expect them to act upon manages to stay up there but other stuff they seem to notice !

    There’s one blog where I download mixes from where not too long ago an artist/producer complained about their tunes being featured certain mixes. The blog ceased operating for a few months because of this although somehow its gone back to normal now.
    Maybe your situation is similar. ?

    I gave up posting mashups on YouTube. Usually when I do a mashup I mashup the videos also so I was getting takedown notices for video content and music content. It was getting to the stage where I’d upload something and literally 10 seconds later there would be 6 or 7 copyright claims. Anyway if you are doing mashups I recommend using Vimeo, they stay up there no problem at all as I have a bunch of them on there.

    I’ve uploaded remix’s before now and they have stayed up no problem – I did make sure that I named all the artists/track names when I did this though…

    Might be different for mashups as you have a greater likelihood of triggering the algorithms if you have a number of tracks in there? I tend to remix more obscure tracks so that may be how I have got away with it..?

    It doesn’t matter if you own the original tracks, credit their authors, or earn money form them – it’s not allowed.

    The algorithm is automatic, and as long as the rights owner is in the system, the algorithm will find your tracks and flag them in 10 seconds.

    There are 2 way only to stay away from that:

    a) Completely change the track from start to end, so the algorithm wont recognize it. A little echo or EQ doesn’t help though…
    b) Use obscure/old tracks that are not in the system, so it wont flag them.

    I’m more interested how are the lyrics videos, that are uploaded by random people, staying there?

    Youtube is very complicated to get the whole rights management right. So I would advise against using it for DJing purposes.

    Yeah – that’s likely to be the trigger for it being so quick but if your channel is “in good standing” I think they tend to be more tolerant.

    It’s the inconsistency that’s really frustrating as there are so many “YouTube Celebrities” that get away with SO much. Why? Simple – they drive so many video views and Ad impressions and Clicks, YouTube aren’t gonna take action any time soon, without direct request from the respected copyright owners.

    Good luck in getting them live somewhere!

    Well I know some youtube celebrities and no they do not get away with much.
    They are doing these things:
    – They stick to the rules word for word. So they only show stuff that has previously released on youtube, hence the youtube license bites (attention this does not mean the vimeo section of youtube) and hence they can re-show things.
    – They get a sanction by the rights owner. So the algorithm disputes them, video is stalled, they upload their PDF with the submission of rights via the dispute page and the video is re-released.
    – They show stuff only is a length that is allowed (< 20 sec) and many more things. If you think youtube celebrities only do things and get away with it, you are very wrong, there is loads going on behind the scenes and yes they can use their celeb status to prolly easier get sanctions to use stuff, but it is hard work to do so.
