Well, if you want 4 channel and Traktor, a (used – seeing what your budget is) S4 seems the only viable option.

On the other hand, you are claiming the SB and the MC2000 are lacking features you think you need. But you don’t tell us which features those are. Also you say you want to do more and explore more options, yet you say you don’t want performance pads (a great way to get a lot of functionality into 8 buttons).

Finally you say you need 4 channels so you can mix two while you have two waiting? The whole idea about 4 channels is that you can mix MORE than two tracks at once and/or use more different sources (I have two mediaplayers hooked up to my channel 3 and 4 for backup purpose and to play CD or USB-stick material if necessary).

As for the units you mention, my personal opinion is to stay away from Gemini (but I know we have readers that disagree with that opinion). Vestax is gone, so buy one at your own risk (drivers might be hard to find and support is non-extinct). The Beatmix 4 is a good controller as is the MTQ.

I would not toss the idea of two-channel starter controllers though, especially considering that you will be spending at least 100 dollars out of an already limited budget on getting the software. So, unless you buy used, the higher end (and most 4-channel) controllers will be out of reach.

Just my two cents as usual.

Beatmix 4 and you can add a reloop neon if you need pads.

I guess to clarify what I meant after re-reading my original post, I guess Im used to how the DDJ-T1 has all the features spread out versus everything compact to one button which its something I can get use to too. You were right about not order a gemini because I just bought one and tried it out and the manual loop doesn’t even work — so I guess I should be more cautious with that company later on. As for the Beatmix 4, I really want to get that only problem is that it doesn’t have a manual loop which I usually use more often than auto loop. The problem can be fixed with Reloop neon but that would be an extra 200+. Should I just get the beat mix still even without the manual loop function? Is there any equivalent DJ controller equivalent of Vestax VCI 400 around the same price or no?

Hey, they are midi controllers, midi means mappable. You could re-assign some lesser used buttons and then set the manual loop functions to those buttons obviously.

Oh I didn’t know you can do that haha! Thanks for the advice! It’s doable on Serato full right?

I just run my SX on Serato out of the box, besides I usually run Mixvibes Cross which is my primary platform. So can’t tell you much about mapping in Serato. I have done a bit of mapping in both Cross and Traktor though. Pretty simple stuff there.
