Ok, won’t say anything about you using Behringer.

In general, you are all over the place. And you seriously seems to think you can get great sounding, gut-wrenching bass for under $700,00. Think again.

The only thing that makes even limited sense is getting the Behringer sub. At 120 LBS it’s not all that heavy for a sub.

Buying a 6000Watt amp for 900Watt speakers is, to be blunt, ridiculous. That has nothing to do with headroom, but everything with killing your speakers (it’s only a matter of time before you forget to turn down your amps when you power things up, hit play and see your cones flying through the air. You mention your speakers have 800W max, but keep your eye on RMS figures. A 1600W/8Ohm amp into 450W/8Ohm speakers = disaster waiting to happen.

Not to mention that it is absolutely and totally impossible to get that kind of QUALITY sound out of a 350bucks amp.
Also you’d need an active crossover with this setup (as with your current setup by the way).

A final note though. You are comparing apples with pears. Your current bass cabs are just that bass cabs. They make up the low end of a two or three way system in normal use, pretty much like the 12″ speakers in your EuroLives. They are NOT, emphasize NOT, SUBwoofers. They will never go low enough to get that pounding bass you are looking for. For that you do need a subwoofer that can go LOWER in frequency than your current bass speakers can.

So, without commenting on the Behringer choice, get the Behringer Sub, it compliments your full ranges, has the necessary crossover. Your entire setup will be active and you can sell off your Peavey Mixer and Bass cabs to some band and use that money towards the extra trolley to roll your sub around.

Thanks! Do you suggest any powered subwoofers you had in mind other than behringer?

Even though Id like to stick with the same brand, I am open to suggestions and would really like to see some suggestions that could be compatible with my mains.

Even if it means going above $700

Is this more of what I need?

I really like the looks of this one if I can afford it.

QCS products are awesome.. Wish they were in my budget too (If I needed a sub.. which I don’t 🙁 )

I would personally be looking at either a Mackie sub (The SRM1850’s are meant to be good) or Yamaha at that sort of price point..

The main problem with audio gear is that you get what you pay for.. As with a lot of things in life.

So, whilst Behringer do offer a very good bang for your buck, it isn’t (to keep the metaphor going) a very good bang.. The tops will work for now though – I am sure that your audience probably won’t notice anything anyway 🙂

Back to the subject.. Go with brands – I would probably go with Mackie – Either a Thump 18S (I am very pleased with my 15″ Tops) http://thump.mackie.com/ or SRM1850 (the 1801 aren’t meant to be as good) http://srm.mackie.com/

Sorry about the slightly in specific links, the Mackie site won’t let me get better ones..

Time for some soul searching. If you are willing to upgrade your full ranges within too long as well, getting the QSC or one of the other mentioned brands. I am using the Mackie HD1801. It’s butt-ugly, but sounds terrific. I turn it down -3 to -6dB because the (sub)bass is so powerful and tight for an 18″. It’s available for around 1000 bucks, so a bit over budget for you.

If you are NOT willing to upgrade the Behringer Eurolives, I’d get the matching sub and have everything matched as intended by the manufacturer.

    Just me, as usual
