ModeratorDepends on the CDJs, but could be possible. I am out of Traktor software and gear too long to tell you for sure if you can use two controllers to control 1 deck, but as memory serves I think that is feasible.
You’d also need a mixer obviously. And I hope someone can chime in whether the CDJs work in HID mode with Traktor or pure midi. In the latter case the jog response might not be super.
This is all based upon midi controlling tracks. If you are thinking about going DVS with TimeCode CD’s the story changes. You’d need a Traktor supported 4+4 soundcard, TimeCode CDs and the right version of Traktor.

ParticipantAnd X1 will Control effects and both decks if you want it to, without anything else. Which is what I use when djing in clubs along with an external mixer.
because of your version of traktor, I’m not sure on the CDs side of things, you probably need traktor scratch pro for cdj use, plus a sound card, but maybe do one else can clarify.

KeymasterYou can go with 2x CDJ 2000 Nexus and use them as controllers via USB, but they will not play CDs that way. So you will be limited to use them solely as controllers, which makes for quite expensive controllers. You actually would have more options just using an S4 instead and hell of a lot cheaper.

ParticipantWhat I really wanna do is to DJ with CDJs, i.e match BPM maunally, change the pitch manualy, etc, etc. But for effects I want to Kontrol traktor by an external hardware. How can I do this?

ModeratorSince you can do ALL that with a controller (or two XDJ-1000s which cost the same as one CDJ2000), there is no reason for the CDJs. Get an S4 and go for it.

ParticipantPioneer XDJ-1000 is not available in my country.
And S4 is way beyond my budget. Even if I could afford to buy S4, it will restrict me from being a analog DJ. I don’t want be a pure digital DJ. I don’t want to be dependent on a particular gear to play.March 31, 2015 at 3:20 pm #2166621DJ Rami
ParticipantFinally I got what I was looking for.
Here is where I got it from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRQC5o1ckRkThe controls on CDJ will be functional when you connect it in HID mode. X1 can be used with a combination of a pair of CDJs 🙂
Thanks all for the help 🙂March 31, 2015 at 4:24 pm #2166641Mat
ParticipantYes but if an s4 is out of your budget, then 2 pioneer cdj 2000 definetly will be.

Participant@Mat,
I am not gonna buy Pioneer CDJs for my home setup. That is one of the common setup I have seen in most of the clubs. So I wanted to buy a controller that would blend in with the existing setup which would make DJ handover easy.March 31, 2015 at 7:13 pm #2166701Mat
ParticipantNot all clubs have the cdj2000s so if you do turn up to play and they don’t have any then you are stuck? like some people on this forum state, some clubs expect you to bring your own gear.

KeymasterMat some people are resistant to advise as they have an idea (however wrong) in their head and do not trust people with 20+ years background in the industry. If that happens, then just let them, if they did not exist the market for used gear would be much weaker and used prices much higher…

You have a point there. But right now I can’t afford to buy a pair CDJ 2000s and a mixer.I can afford to spend a maximum of $428. I was planning to buy a Komplete Audio 6 worth $229 (which can be used for production as well as live performance) and a Kontrol X1 MkII worth $199.
Please consider that I do not earn anything apart from my basic needs.
Let me know your opinions please.

I do trust everyone who is answering here. If at all my reply seemed that I do not trust anyone, then I’m sorry. I am just trying to gain some knowledge from people who have experience in the industry.
I respect all the DJs no matter he is experienced or not.April 1, 2015 at 10:10 am #2166991Mat
ParticipantIf you want cdj use then, Your best bet is to buy and audio 6 soundcard package for £239gbp as this can be used as a dvs system this will enable you to use any cdjs or turntables, wherever you play,
Or if they do not have cdjs or turntables, you can just play off your kontrol X1.
But a traktor s2 or s4 would be a a lot better for your needs, as you get control over your decks, and effects plus the s4 can be used as a standalone mixer.

ParticipantThanks for the reply Mat.
Ok so this is what I am planning now.
I will buy Audio 6 and Kontrol X1 and start working on traktor as I have no idea about traktor, becasue, in most of the clubs in my city, they have already have CDJs setup. A DJ, here has to just get tracks to play. So I will start playing here and earn some money so that I can buy CDJs and mixer.
Sounds good?

Participantyou will use cdjs as normal but have your library of music on a laptop, lots of videos on traktor audio 6 time code.
If your planning on buying cdjs and a mixer, you’re best of just waiting now and buying a traktor kontrol s4 second hand……
