    Well besides the nocturn, there are many midi controllers that work, but you have to map them manually as custom mappings for ableton are much rarer. But I have seen someone use the new Akai AMX/AFX controllers with ableton for example, however he mapped them himself.

    I think i can manage manual mapping but i need sth simple small and cheap
    nocturn is the best choice i think but i can’t get my hands on it unfortunatlly!
    so what do you think about the novation XL or the launchpad controller?

    Well I have the old “standard” launchpad and it works perfectly for my Ableton needs. But then I use it to compose and produce or slice and mashup songs at home and live I use Serato. So I cannot make a comment how good it would work alone in a live environment. For me in Ableton it is fine, I use it together with a MIDI masterkeyboard (which I obviously use to play instruments in Ableton) and that is excellent for my production needs.

    so i think I’m gonna go for the Nocturne itself or the launchpad controller
