IMO, people you talked too got it backward, DJing makes a better producers, (imo) why ?

When you DJ ing, you know what drives people on the dance floor, what drives them calm, wild, crazy, and you can put that perspective when you producing, which part of your song going to drives people crazy, where you want people to feelin euphoria ? when u done producing you can take that song you just made and test it out on the battlefield aka dance floor while you DJ ing

Also, I think you may be expecting too much after 3 months. I’ve been composing music for just shy of 30 years, and am still constantly learning (and don’t think much of my own music).

Are you doing it because you love it? If so, then continue to do so. If you’re not doing it because you love it, then you may not want to stick with it – it is very hard to get good at an art without loving it.
