Appropriate music to play seems very culturally oriented to me… but you should have a pretty good idea of what music is popular with your classmates, don’t you?

Yes…..I have. Mostly it’s all the mainstream pop crap. I think….the only EDM song they know is from Guetta. But will it hurt to play some AVB, Avicii, Skrillex, Jack U, Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Hardwell, etc.?

Again, highly cultural. If your particular crowd is going to run screaming, then maybe it’s not a good idea… but if you think the crowd will be willing to stick around for you injecting some new ideas into their ears, then do it. You know your audience way better than we can.

Go to the school and have them give you a playlist. When ever I do a party for a school I give them blank sheets with lines on tt so they can write down there songs. Once I get the songs I sort out what I see the most and that gives me an idea what to play.

Hi Emazing, having been there and done that, there is a HUGE drawback, imho, to that idea.

IF you ask people what they like to hear and you end up NOT playing what is on ALL their lists, people have a tendency to be disappointed. Personally for me it was a reason to no longer do that. What I do sometimes do is find the most “trendy” kids and just sit down and have a chat and kinda feel them out for info about what’s hot in their particular scene.

Even though I wasn’t one of the popular kids when I was that age, I still knew what the other kids were listening to without needing to ask them.

Well….Thanks Guys. I tried blasting some EDM and they find it enjoyable. As long as I’m playing song with a high “thump” on the kick which they started jumping for. Well….my set is on the 6th of March. If you can leave any suggestions please do. Thanks!

@ Dj Vintage, Haven’t had any problems with it on my side besides the “I didn’t hear it” or “I wasn’t here when you played it!” quotes.
