    Hi, Danzik, welcome!

That’s a good place to start with DJing, but there is a lot more you can do for a transition. I tend to spend a lot of time adjusting the EQ of the two playing tracks so they don’t step on each other, and keep them playing over top of each other for a real long time (I rarely have only one track playing alone).

I suggest either checking out some of the courses available here (your setup is a pretty hefty one, so I imagine a little bit of cost isn’t going to break the bank). Alternatively, there’s also a lot of great tutorials and the like on YouTube – EllaSkins is pretty popular, and his stuff is very amusing, although you’ll have to read a lot between the lines to really figure some of it out.

Another thing that is hard, but worthwhile, is to listen to other folks’ mixes on MixCloud and listen for spots where you don’t know what they’re doing, and try to figure it out.

More than anything else, practice, practice, practice.

Hi Danzik, welcome to the forums.

When you say you are downloading a lot of music, I would like to warn you for one of the biggest pitfalls of digital DJ-ing, which is to acquire too much tracks. You should have a limited number of tracks in your DJ collection (unless you are a mobile DJ, different story because of all the requests), so that you CAN know them all very well. When your collection is a the max. size (you decide what that is, many of us keep it to 1.000 – 2.000 tracks), it’s wise to adopt a 1-in/1-out strategy.

This way you will have a track collection that you can prepare totally and know intimately.

Otherwise it sounds like you are doing fine.

We are always curious why someone in this day and age goes and buys a CDJ900NXS setup (very expensive) instead of buying a controller that is much less money and has much more possibilities.

I got the 900s as i wanted to practace on the real thing, most clubs here have the nexus range. I can then learn special skills on the cdj or the djm then do the same thing if i were at a club
