Yes DJ Vintage, both ears were covered by the headphones, which is the normal way I mix in my bedroom, when I said perfect I meant the second tune was started at the precise point in time I wanted it to (in the headphones), and I pulled up the fader for maybe about 2 seconds then pulled the first tune’s fader down, that is when the 2 seconds of silence happened, then the sound of the second tune came in! what confused me a bit though was the fact that with both tune’s faders up at full briefly, surely there shouldn’t have been any moment of silence?
And the venue sound system’s subs and top end speakers where positioned about a meter away from the booth, I did pick up on the fact that it sounded very quiet to what I expected a DJ booth to sound like, not really noticing that all the sound was coming from the speakers in front of the booth!
The other DJs did say to me that my mixing was fine was the honest ones told me that they did notice the delay, and I noticed it more than anyone! I get now that I will need to rely on my booth monitor always in future, and I’ll need to switch back to the basic single ear monitoring method periodically / listening to the cued track’s channel only to make sure the beats are going at the perfect times!
Thanks for the reply man! 🙂
