You could just start a second iTunes and start filling that. Keeping your old iTuses library intact. At startup of iTunes you can then decide whether you want your old iTunes or your DJ iTunes to open.

    Would that work?

Great idea, thanks Vintage. I miss the most obvious things sometimes!

Aaargh, help anyone? I created a new iTunes library, filled it with the first lot of my re-processed files and Traktor cannot work with it at all. I have tried to follow the online advice about how to create, fill and import a second library into Traktor but it gives an error message of missing file constantly, even when I follow the advice about setting the right path for the XML file for the library. Outcome: Traktor a total mess (though this is because I have multiple copies of pre- and post-processed files to be fair), iTunes (first library) a mess and me a jibbering wreck. Have no will left even to play music let alone DJ!

Is there an easier way of doing this? I have Traktor, I have (as said) multiple files of pre and post-processed music. These could possibly be tidied up in my Music folder and an alternative system used not involving multiple iTunes libraries. Annoying bit: the second library worked with MIK & I had a batch of beautifully tagged files.

Is it worth manually importing files from scratch to Traktor and maybe using an alternative tagging system like Beatunes?

    hoping my sanity restored soon…

Sorry to hear that. I did the exact same thing with Mixvibes Cross and it just worked great. Not sure what is happening there. Also, I don’t see how it could have messed up your first (original) library. iTunes saves libraries and accompanying files in different folders (I have my regular default iTunes folder for my original library and a DJ MAIN folder for … duh … my DJ library). Those two SHOULDN’T bite each other. When I start up with option-click iTunes (shift-click iTunes on windows I think), I see both libraries and I can just pick the one I want to start with.

Cheers again Vintage. Yep, managed to sort out with 2nd iTunes library and beginning to use some of the great features like the smart playlists. But trying to troubleshoot it, it seems to be a problem with Traktor importing the 2nd library, and keeping all my old stuff on there in the filing system. so it’s a question and fact-finding for this issue with Traktor.

Yeah, again I don’t know how Traktor does that. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out where the settings where in Cross and it was easy sailing from there on in.

Good luck & keep us posted.
