I think it depends on your gigs. My main gig at the moment is in a beach bar, and I like to cycle along the front to get there (no drink drive police on the way home!)

So my set-up needs to fit in a backpack. I currently love the VCI-300 plus my laptop, which although really simple (just two decks, can’t customise the software at all plus loads of other niggles), feels great to use and is really portable, if a little heavy.

I may sound like a broken record here, (especially if you visit another certain Digital DJ forum), but for me, it’d have to be a Traktor S4.

Why? Portable, all in one, customisable, and lots of fun!!! As my current bread & butter is DJing at parties, it’s way more portable then a set of CDJs or 1200s (trust me, once owned CDJs!)

    Now to save for one……

I happen to have one of those ;D They’re freakin’ AMAZING. If you’ve never had anything with all those FX controls and hotcues and sample decks and other assorted cool features, you can’t imagine how much fun it is to play with. I have a Korg Nanopad with clever custom MIDI mapping alongside it for extra effects. That’s my ideal setup. I can’t really think of anything I want to add to it right now.

I play all my sets with my APC 40 mapped to TP2 and an X1.

Basically what I’ve got, but with a Twitch and maybe another midifighter.

When are you planning on getting that Twitch? Hope it meets all expectations. I still haven’t purchased the NS6, I’m kind of in transit at the moment and don’t want to risk damaging the new gear in the move. If I was to consider another controller, it’d be the Twitch for sure.

But for now I suppose my ideal setup would just be the NS6. Maybe a turntable down the road along with SSL as was demonstrated on Skratchworx.

Pretty much on release, and I already know it does. Check out my hands on review on the blog from a few days ago.

Still dreaming, but I’d love to have a pair of Technics, a Pioneer DJM 800 mixer, and a NI Maschine, all on Traktor Scratch Pro 2!

yeh, a maschine would be nice, but I don’t think I’d get the most out of it. I have a Trigger Finger which does the job.

To be honest i think i would still stick with Technics a DJM900 Nexus partially left for external mixing, partially mapped for Traktor 2 use and my X1.

    My perfect setup would be:
    Traktor 2 Pro
    Audio 2
    Kontrol X1
    Maschine
but an Denon DN-SC2000 would also be considered.

This is one I think is perfect because it allows to have the mixing power of Traktor with the production capabilities of Maschine at the same time, meaning that it would be a juggle between live-act and dj-set

Gotta be 2 1210’s, 2 CDJ 2000’s, 2 X1’s and an Ecler NUO 5 alongside maschine plugged into ableton and TPro2.

sickness but completely non-portable and unaffordable.
