I’m no expert but the only trance DJs I’ve ever seen who use scratching were Eddie Halliwell (unbelievable!) and sometimes Jordan Suckley also does it.

Hey, good you feel you are progressing in the art of DJ-ing!

While your questions are valid, there is a lot that has been written about those topics, both here and on the blog. I believe there are even some video’s by Terry in the sticky post at the top of some of the forums.

And you can always check out the courses that DDJT offers.

Hopefully some of our readers will be able to point you in the direction of some other relevant information

How about doing mashups? I have a few songs that work well together, I cue and sync them up and I have a routine I practice where I crossfade between them. I work with music videos so I also have to change up the transition effects between them. Then when the song is ending I have to cue up the next song in the mini-set, beat match it, and adjust the lighting effects to match. There is a lot going on so I don’t think you would get bored with it.

I may make a prerecorded version of it at some point so I can play with the lighting effects live but that’s for the future.

Lots of developments (there’s always been Traktors remix decks and there is Serato Flip to name some) that help make live edits and mashups. Taping one you’re really proud of and playing it as a track is also a good option.

I hardly ever do video, so can’t comment on that too much.

This is a mashup someone else did of the same videos. I think he went a little overboard with the transitions but essentially this is what I do. Basically the group consists of Korean and Chinese speaking members so they filmed the video twice, one for Korean and one for Mandarin.

Since a lot of “uplifting trance” have this loooong breaaak, try to experiment with it, for Ex. drop some dnb on top of that floating break see how it goes and stuff
