    Well I had a Pioneer SB sold it and upgraded to the SR controller no experience with the MP2 but we both carry built in soundcards so there shouldn’t be much of a difference but anyway I use av40 monitors and I just use my Rca cables from my controller output to my monitors and USB to laptop and play never needed an additional soundcard, just my piece of mind, cheers!!

    Like Finkle said, just hook up active (=amplified) speakers to the master output from the controller and off you go. No external soundcard needed.

    You can use a separate amp with passive speakers, but unless you have a setup like that laying around already, my personal advice would be to stick with active speakers. For information on what kind to get, look at the articles on (DJ Monitor) speakers on the blog or articles on the subject on these forums.
