Im a newb help please!!!

The site you’re on has a video course called “How to Digital DJ Fast“, it’s a good place to start. There are several other courses available here that you can use to expand from there.

I am also a n00b, but had a much lower budget than you do, so I won’t be able to give a great recommendation there, but you should be able to get How to Choose a DJ Controller from registering on the website, and then use DJ Controllers: The Ultimate Buyers Guide 2014, also hosted here, to help your selection process.

Although we love it when our readers are enthusiastic about gear (usually the stuff they own or aspire to own in the future), forum rules state that we don’t allow people to claim any gear, software, music, etx. as “the best” “the worst” and such.

In short, you can vent your vision, opinion, beliefs, as long as you make sure you make very clear that that is what it is.

So, saying that “imho it’s just an all round great controller (I personally think it’s the best control for Traktor by far!)” would be just fine. Stating these things like they are universal or undisputable true is not.

You might consider this nitpicky, but the reason for this rule is that while we respect everyone’s opinion, we also realise everybody has an opinion. And if you state that the 4TRAK is the best controller for Traktor by far as if it were the truth, it opens the door for those that disagree with that to “attack” you and before you know it we have a shouting match or I am right, you are wrong situation going on.

By all means, keep contributing and venting your opinion, just try to avoid making absolute statements.

IMO comes down to what software you want to use! Traktor or Serato the big 2! Personally if I would only use NI devices with Traktor but there are loads of controllers mapped for Serato, there is other software out there of course. Try reading the controller guide.

You are right, Rizki. I didn’t remove anything or such. Unfortunately I know that people will read a statement like:

(the best controller for Traktor by far!)

and start reacting to it, before they ever read the “just my opinion” at the bottom.

It was more a friendly notice to keep an eye on that.

About speakers, anything you have already will propably do (like home hi-fi system or so). For starter that is. You really don’t need any high grade active speakers to get going. Whenever you start producing stuff, its a different thing.

For the little practicing I do at home, I just have a good set of PC speakers (Creative gigaworks T80 that is).

About the controller issue, I have a penny or two: I think yo should go for something “cheap”, say an entry lvl controller for starters. Practice for a year or so, and only then will you know what are the things YOU want from your controller AND your software.
