As a fellow new DJ, that’s what I have, and I have been pretty happy with it. Like me, you’ll find yourself bumping up against limitations once you start to learn more, but if you are decent with computers, you can move to Traktor and do some mapping tricks to tweak its functionality to give you a way to do the things you are missing.

I am rather impressed with the quality of the sound output from it.

However, as the rest of the gang will point out, if you can afford it, you would be much better off getting something like the Mixtrack Pro 2 – it’s more than twice the cost, though, and I just couldn’t afford to do that myself.

Probably so… the MP3 E2 doesn’t have its own built in audio-card, which means you’ll just be using the outputs from your laptop. That’s not going to sounds as good, and it will also mean you won’t be able to use headphones to cue the next track while you are playing the current one. That’s a pretty important thing to have.

That said, the actual MP3 E2 controls are a little bit better – they have a knob for the pitch fader rather than a toggle button – the pitch fader is one of those things I was talking about when I said you’ll start to run up against the limitations of the Instinct.

However, the not having an audio card on the controller is probably worse, though hopefully the rest of the gang here will chime in if they disagree with me.

Also, the reason the MP3 E2 is cheaper, near as I can tell, is because it is an outdated model that isn’t made any more. That’s not the end of the world, of course, but it could mean trouble if you ever need any kind of support for it.

If you make the move to Traktor, I would be happy to share my mapping with you. The stock one from Hercules is usable, but I have tweaked just a few things to make it nicer and to help soften the rough edges a bit.

    Specifically:

    1. Tweaked the loop controls a little to separate the loop activate/deactivate button from the create loop button so that you can turn them on and off at any point. In the process, I removed the keylock button, because I always have that turned on.
    2. Made it so that holding the shift button turns the volume fader into a pitch slider to allow for better beat matching than using the aforementioned pitch rocker switch. I made it so both the volume and the pitch faders are soft pick-up, which means you have to move the slider back to where it was for that slider before it starts changing anything, which keeps you from accidentally causing drastic jumps when switching modes.
    3. Made the shift and track up/down buttons so they toggle the view to switch from expand the upper decks and contract the lower decks, and vice versa. This is part of a larger (unfinished) goal of making it so this toggle switches all the controls from the upper to lower decks.

To start with, the Instinct comes with DJUCED, which is an OK package to start with, but you probably won’t be happy with it for long. You may not choose Traktor, but you’ll probably move on to a different software pretty quickly.

For headphones, Terry gave a strong recommendation on Sennheiser S201s, which are about 20 euro for a pair that I picked up after his recommendation, and have been very happy with. They are wired, but I also have a pair of wireless headphones, and the sound is nowhere near as good. To be fair, I don’t have a pair of what you linked, but the nature of wireless headphones usually means the signal is compressed in some way to fit it through the wireless, and they just don’t sound as good – plus they will introduce a little bit of latency, though that may not be terribly noticeable to you.

I can’t comment on speakers, I do not have a special pair of speakers, I just use either my regular computer speakers when practicing or I use the house sound system when I play for an audience.

Much more full featured – it has all the knobs and sliders you’re going to want to have.

The Beatmix is hands down the best controller of those you have selected.
