ParticipantThe closest to that budget I can think of is the mixtrack pro 2. anything less than that is probably not worth getting

ParticipantAdding on to my last post, the first mixtrack pro was actually my first controller, and I guess it wasn’t too bad to start off with.

ModeratorYep, under 200 is tight. Are you going to buy official software too? In that case, the beatmix 4 might be worth looking into. At around 400 it includes the full Serato software (a 125 upgrade to the intro version that comes with most other controllers), which means you’ll go slightly over budget, but you will have a very nice controller.
See the review this week over at the blog.

ParticipantI’m leaning toward 80 euro for a Hercules DJ Control Instinct to get started with, super crazy tight budget here, but I am waiting for payday until I can buy it. The video review from this sight had decent things to say about it as a very low budget learning controller.

ParticipantAre you planning to learn to beatmix manually? I ask this because the Instinct does not have tempo faders, but something of a switch instead. I imagine this would be a nightmare to beatmatch manually with (I’d love to give it a go though!). But if you’re just going to use sync anyway, it won’t be a problem. Another annoyance for me would be the lack of a master volume. Apart from that, I’m sure you get a lot for your money.

ParticipantI intend to learn to beatmix manually eventually, but that’ll be something for after I’ve decided I’m serious enough about it to upgrade to something with a little more bang.

ParticipantSave a couple more pay days I’d say brother!! Get a nice pioneer ddj-sb i got one myself a couple months ago and hold zero regrets I love it! Perfect tool to get you going of course it does not come with full serato so eventually you will want to upgrade it! Just my piece of mind

ParticipantI’m spending more than I can really afford just to get what I’m gettin’… my budget is TIGHT.

ParticipantLook at the beatmix 4 review, which says (more than once haha) that it only comes with Serrato Intro

ParticipantAlso, I’m leaning towards the Mixtrack Pro II and was wondering if it has a sound card built in? And if it does, is it any good? Thanks!

ParticipantAnd I meant to say “LOOKED at the beatmix 4 review.” Came off sounding pretty jerkish telling a moderator to go look at his own review haha.

ModeratorHi, the moderators are with the forums, not with the blog staff. We try to keep some distance from them 😀
You might find the occassional article by Terry or me, but it’s incidental, not structural and we are like many other part-time contributors there.
Second, if you read the comments on the review, you will see many references to the FULL Serato deal, namely it still being “on” (check the Reloop website if you want to check for yourself).
The MTP2 has a soundcard built-in and like most serious brands it is plenty good enough for DJ-ing.

KeymasterCleaned up the thread from bogus recommendations.
Now we do know our own reviews and correct USUALLY the beatmix 4 comes with Serato Intro, HOWEVER there currently is a bundle savings option from reloop and the bundle with the full Serato DJ is available for the same price for a limited time.
This offer will expire soon, they say as long as inventory of the bundle packages lasts, which my guess is not too long as they sell like hotcakes.
So if you can snatch a Beatmix 4 quickly it will still come with full Serato DJ, if you buy online I would check with the online shop to make sure they are still available and they are not sending you the intro version.August 4, 2014 at 9:56 am #2047707deathy
ParticipantGah… you guys have me convinced to eat mostly Ramen this month and get an MPT2 instead of the Herc.

ModeratorYeah, we have that effect on some people … 😀
May we suggest Lino Lada instead of Ramen though?
