What you can do is have a splitter using one ipad, but you’ll only be using one. You’re better of with a controller with a soundcard in it. If you don’t have the funds for that I don’t know what to tell you.

Yep, the iRig Mix is the tool you need for what you describe you want to do.

I have seen a young kid DJ for an hour on one of those with two iPads at a live sound gig I did about two years back and he did a great job.

And it’s cheap enough that if you don’t like it, nothing too much lost, right.

Thanks to both of you for the advice.

I would ideally like to get used to using two iPads as I can then combine the disk space between the two and spread my music library across both.

I think I’m gonna look into getting an iRig Mix and get rid of this basic one.

Uhm … I see a flaw in that reasoning. It would mean you’d have two different collections on the iPads. Meaning you might want to play two tracks back to back that sit on the same iPad. Not possible (can’t load track from one iPad onto the other).

My advice would be to have identical collections on both. Much easier to maintain and manage. If you prepare properly, you should never need more than about 2x the amount of tracks that will fit into a set. Say 15-20 tracks an hour, maximum 4-5 hour set. That means you will be set with about 200 tracks max! Even in WAV (avg 40MB a track) you are looking at 8GB. That should fit all 16GB and bigger iPads easily.
