I have sent back everything and the kitchen sink in the past. It can be done (biggest online store here offers a no-questions-asked 60-day return policy). It’s a hassle arranging for pickup, repacking (original packaging of course) and the paper work.
As far as speakers go. There is too much and it’s partly a matter of taste. What one person thinks is too boomy, the other thinks is tight bass. One thinks speakers have nice clear highs, the other thinks the same speakers sound harsh.
Not just personal preference, but the state of your ears play a major role in this case.
EONs have never been my favorite speakers. I have tried several when buying my Mackie HD set and they never lived up to expectation or comparison. I opted for two 12″ top ends and one 18″ sub. Total RMS power 2000Watt, so enough for a party of up to 200 people. The 12″s make for easier handling and lifting, only one sub means all my gear still fits in my Renault Kangoo.
What is the reason you want to send them back? They don’t sound good to you, or is it what others have said/you have read?
At the end of the day trust your ears, as always. Set it up, preferably in a fitting environment (the garage and living room usually aren’t) and listen to them with your favorite music playing at various levels. Experiment with the placement of the speakers some (stack 1 top on sub the other on stand, 2 tops on stand, sub standalone near the middle or side) and walk around listening. THEN decide if they will work for you or not.
Hope that helps.
