Your mood changes every day. Listening to a track on multiple days and changing things around until they make you always happy are key to good productions.
Also the more experience you get the more badly older tracks will sound to you… I could stick my head in the sand for some things I have produced in past years hehe

one time a portion of the track may sound great to me today but the next day i feel that it doesnโ€™t quite fit in the track.

Welcome to the world of production aha ! This is going to happen a lot, it depends on your mood a little bit I guess yep.

Yes that does happen, I call it the Artist’s Curse because it happens to anyone in every creative field. But I read an article once that you shouldn’t get too hung up on making that one track perfect. Just get it decent, and on to the next one or else you wont progress

It’s true. If you don’t get the old one out you’ll never make the new one. You’ll just edit the old one into the ground.

That’s just how it is! ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s also what usually happens when you’re done producing a track and are set on mixing it. You’ll always want to change something (in my experience), but part of the songwriting and producing process is knowing when a song is “done,” and that’s a skill that you hone through the years ๐Ÿ™‚ good luck, you are in for an exciting ride!

I would say set yourself a target date / time for completion and stick to it. It is so easy to keep going on a track. then you never finish anything.

Also if you run too long auditioning / mixing it your ears get tired which changes your perception of the track. Good to take a long break and go listen to something else for a while and come back to it.

Music is all about changing emotional states and your changes during the process.

Good luck there and keep plugging away.

Yeah, i’ve watched a video by Mike Monday (he’s great), its called “How to finish a track you’re bored with” (if you have the same problem watch it) And it said that if you listen to a track or a portion of a track for multiple times you’ll eventually get bored of it, and he also said that you can’t really judge your own track, because you’re bored of it and youve listened to it a million (or two) times. i eventually got over it but i guess it’s part of life hehe
