KeymasterYes you can make a new mapping for the S4, no voodoo about it.
Yes you can add another controller (nano pad, midi fighter,…) and map whatever you want to it.
Yes you can assign hotkeys, but not to all functions. You should head over and read the Traktor Bible on how to do mappings properly as explaining how to map Traktor would take ages as it is not simple endeavour at all.

ParticipantThanks for the reply.
Confused on one point, can I assign a new function to the a key on the macbook running traktor? So for example assign the drama sweep to the “s” key?May 27, 2014 at 8:59 am #2034191Terry_42
KeymasterAs I said: Yes you can assign hotkeys. If you can assign that function I do not know of the top of my head, but I am sure the manual will tell you.

ParticipantManual? What manual? I’m sure there is a digital one buried in there but I prefer a real one and it wasn’t included. TraktorBible isn’t even sold in my country but I’m trying to find one. Thanks for your help.

ModeratorTraktor Bible is sold online. Just go to the site, order it and it will be on your doorstep in a week or so.
And there is a manual there. You are right, they really buried it in an unfindable location, I have found it for you and will tell you where it is, just don’t tell anybody else, ok?!
Go to HELP, then to (suprise!) OPEN MANUAL.
Here you will find manuals for all supported controllers (3rd party and NI’s own) a Getting Started guide and full Manual in a few languages. We’ll gladly help, but you have to put in some effort of your own too 😀
Greetinx and good luck with mapping.

ParticipantAhh the old, help yourself first thing that every mod at every site feels the need to say because why waste a second helping somebody when you can waste a second telling them you’ll only help those who help themselves.
Well you did seem to understand that I did indeed know there is a digital copy of the manual that I don’t want to use, regardless of how many languages it is in.
And yes, I even understand the concept of internet shopping there champ, but you know what? Sometimes I just like to buy stuff the old fashion way.
First guy answered my questions and I thanked him, you are just being a wad because you have free time to do so.

ModeratorWow, appreciate the reaction.
Glad you enjoy the help we provide in our own free time. And I think I just answered the questions you had. Was there a manual? Yes there was, i simply pointed out where it was. And yes, I was a little sarcastic/black humor, as Terry told you the information you could find is in the manual and your reaction was “what manual .. I am sure … etx”.
Now if you can pretend to not know there is a manual, it seems a little odd that you object if someone then comes back with a humoristic/sarcastic retort pretending he didn’t know you knew.We don’t make Traktor or any kind of software so I think it is safe to say that we have no influence about what NI ship with their product. It being a mainly online product, they don’t deliver a hard copy manual I guess. That is why the Bible is such a popular item amongst Traktor DJs. And it’s way more comprehensive and complete than the actual manual.
Furthermore you stated that the Traktor Bible wasn’t available in your country. Now either you live in a country that has such strict import laws that importing something like the Traktor Bible isn’t allowed or for some reason they don’t ship there. It happens. If asked nicely, I am sure someone on here would even be willing to order it for you and ship it onwards if that were the case.
If you took that as a remark suggesting that you didn’t know how to online shop, I’d say “tough luck m8, read more closely next time”.
I have a problem with your “ah, the old …” remark.
Why? Because, quite frankly, this is one of the most helpful places on the net when it comes to (digital) DJ-ing. We (both mods and users) try hard to answer all questions and usually you get a reply the same day (or within hours often). And yes, if information is readily available, we will point in the right direction.
If you are under the impression that anybody here has an obligation to spend time to find out something that you can find out yourself with a little more effort, then you are sadly mistaken.
Finally, we don’t go telling people off on here. It’s a friendly forum, has always been and us mods try to keep it that way. There is two of us and a boatload of messages to go through (I stress, voluntarily!) every day. So, no, if I know the answer can be found in a manual, blog post, forum thread or elsewhere (digital or hardcopy), I won’t spend the time reading up, finding the answer and doing something you could do yourself. The fact that you dislike electronic manuals and prefer paper is no concern of mine. The information is (as Terry pointed out) in the manual, if you want something better than the manual, get the Bible.
Obviously, if we know the answer by heart – which is true for many questions asked here – we WILL give it readily.I know the Bible ships almost anywhere in the world. Yes, it’s possible they don’t ship to your country. But again, that is not our concern. Nor is it our duty to then take our own copy of the Bible (if we have one), spend time finding the right passage in this THICK book and then type all the necessary info in here for you to follow.
Hope you continue enjoying the forum.
Greetinx.
