ModeratorLOL … hi and welcome to the forum.
In essence the 3900s are a great set of media-players. Depending on how you have everything connected up and what you are trying to do, it should function flawlessly.
Are you trying to use them as midi controllers or as DVS (digital vinyl system) with timecode?
What software are you using?
Tell us what you have connected to what in which order.Soon as you give us some more details we’ll be more able to help properly.

BlockedMake sure your audio 6 soundcard is set to line not phono. Do his in setting when your soundcard is plugged in, I use windows so just type audio 6 in the search folder on start up and check the settings.
This MAYBE what is wrong, only a guess

ModeratorYes, like I said. Until we know how things are connected it’s only guessing as to what could be the problem.
The presence of the Traktor soundcard suggests DVS use. In which case correct connnections and setup are imperative. So, OP, please report back to us with the needed info.

ParticipantI completely bypassed the soundcard and connected the SC3900 directly to the mixer and now it sounds great. I am using the USB to just test it out for now. So if I am understanding correctly, if I want to use the computer then I have to use the soundcard. If I want to just use the USB port then I am a DVS but if I want to use the computer I am midi? DVS I don’t need the sound card but MIDI I do?
Thank you all for helping this n00b out.

ModeratorUhm … not quite 😛
1) DVS. You use timecode (actually built-in to the 3900, so no need for timecode CD) to control the track in your DJ software. In this setting the routing is:
3900 to soundcard input -> soundcard USB to PC -> soundcard output to mixer. The soundcard has a through switch, which let’s you play regular CD’s on the 3900 as well. Your SC3900 don’t have to be connected by USB.
2) Midi. You connect your 3900s with USB to your PC. You connect the sound output from the 3900s directly to the mixer. In your DJ mixer you set the output channels to both the 3900s (depending on mac or windows, you have to “aggregate” both 3900 built-in soundcards so the OS sees them as one 4-channel soundcard). Now you control the DJ software entirely with the 3900s. The tracks that are loaded into the DJ software decks is played back out through USB into the 3900 and then to the mixer. If you use the 3900s in midi, you don’t need the soundcard. If you want to go DVS you do.
To complicate matters, the 3900 has a so-called Hybrid mode. In Hybrid mode, you use timecode to control the platters (thus doing the DVD routing, but you add USB connection too, so you can use all the other buttons (loop, cue, etx.) that are normally not available in DVS only mode.
So, it’s up to you which to pick. Midi is simplest and gives most functionality. You’ll have to see if the response from the jogs is ok for you though. Hybrid would be my second choice (find the jogs on the sc2900 to have good enough responsiveness in midi mode). Pure DVS would be my third option.
Having said that, I am sure there are plenty of others on the forums that have other preferences. I hope this made some sense and was helpful in some way.

ParticipantThanks that answers other questions I’m sure will come up this weekend as I start playing around with it. I’m going to try and setup Hybrid mode this weekend. I am hoping to start getting into turntablism which is why I went with the 3900. I really like the feel a lot.

ParticipantTraktor + sc3900’s guy here.
You mentioned the Traktor sound card, so I’m taking it you’re running scratch pro 2, right? If so grab the Traktor mapping off the Denon webby for the sc3900, its really useful.
