    The KRK Rockit are very solid and good speakers. There response is reasonable flat even for smaller scale production and they are surely great bang for the buck.
    I have the 6” version so I cannot comment if the 5s do have enough bass without a subwoofer, the 6” do have enough bass room. So I would definitely try them before buying, as DJing is bass heavy and you should be satisfied with the low end.
    I know the 6s cost some more but the bass is really solid even without a sub.

    Can’t agree more with you Terry.
    I also own the Rokit 6 G3 and i must say that they are near perfect for the money (well enough bass to clear my building).

    FYI, they cost me about 200€ each and are now about 170€ each (http://www.thomann.de/gb/krk_rp6_rokit_g3_bundle.htm)

    Hi. I have those exact speakers and can’t praise them enough. For the price they kick out a surprising amount of tight bass and clear mids and treble. The on-speaker bass controls really help to adjust the levels to your room as well.

    As with everything, you get what you pay for though so as the guys above say, if you can get the 6s for a decent price then go for it, but you certainly won’t regret the 5s.

    The 5’s (which I have too, only the G2 version) are slightly shy on bass imho. If I had to buy new ones I’d spend the extra money on 6’s. Getting a sub with the 5’s is another option. The 6’s will have more bass, but not that much lower bass. A sub will give you more AND lower bass. A sub will be more than the extra money for getting 6s

    How about the KRK 8’s? I’m looking for some speakers as well and I see same good looking used KRK 8’s (1st gen) online. Anyone have experience with these, and how much bass they give?

    The 8s are awesome and have enough woom without a sub 10 times over.
