ModeratorI don’t like DJay 2 either (and 1 even less for that matter). I do however enjoy the iDJ Pro with DJ Player. Excellent mapping. The software does have a learning curve, but once you master that it becomes a very powerful piece of kit.

ParticipantI downloaded DJ Player but cannot use it. Reason being, if I hit a couple of hot cues I get crackling noise that I can’t get rid of unless I reboot the app and idj pro. I tried agian yesterday and if I touch the jog wheel very gently this also creates crackling. I tried support but they say theirs works fine.
This is why I was looking into hooking it up to my IMac and using traktor pro. What’s your thoughts on that?

ModeratorSince mine doesn’t produce the crackling sound either I wonder if there might be a hardware problem? Did you have these complaints using DJAY as well?

ParticipantThe only time I had it with Djay was when I had other apps open in the background. Once they were closed the problem went and has never returned…

ModeratorHmmm … I’ll go give it another try later today with my iPad 3 (retina) and iDJ Pro.

ModeratorIs there anything particular about the file format you have for your tracks?
I tried quite a few things and couldn’t reproduce your problem. Not sure what’s causing it. We’d have to go back to the very basics. Starting with making a backup of your current iPad through iTunes. Then setting the iPad back to factory default. Next running the latest update of iOS. Finally installing only DJ Player.
Now hook up your iDJ Pro and see what happens.
Alternatively, and perhaps faster, is getting hold of another iPad, installing DJ Player and trying.
Not much else I can do to help I guess.

ParticipantI can help on this one, since I actually had the idjpro setup with Traktor working.
Three things you need for this.
1. Currently only working on mac. Although I believe a PC version is in the works
2. You need a custom cable. Which is around 17 UK pounds a plus postage and packing. So not that expensive. not bad since they are hand made. Certainly cheaper than a new controller
You need to go out to the following site to request one. Also has details on setting it up.
http://idjpro.wordpress.com/idj-pro-macbook-pro/3. The mapping for the idjpro and traktor are available from https://maps.djtechtools.com/mappings/2146
I made these as no one had done it before, so they are not perfect, but functional.Only downside is you need an Idevice (iphone / ipad) that you can plug in when you start up the IDJ pro to unlock the sound card. If you use a different soundcard you can direct traktor to that and just use the IDJpro as a midi controller.
One other upside you can put touch OSC on the ipad and make your own additional controls on it. That maybe going a bit far for some, but I did it and enjoyed having my own custom control screens.
Any problems getting this set up let me know.

ParticipantHi Phil,
Thanks for your reply. I have contact the people who make the cable several times but they have never come back to me. I would like to try it out as I don’t like DJay. DJ Player is great but I have no end of sound issues so this would be ideal if I could get a reply 🙁

ParticipantI have the guys direct email I will see if he is still making the cables. Not heard from for a while either. See what I can do.

ParticipantHi Paul, I got an email from him this morning. He is playing catchup with a few things, but has some cables in stock if you head over to the http://idjpro.wordpress.com/buy-the-cable/ page and purchase he will get one to you.
Phil.

ModeratorThey are even finishing up a Mixvibes Cross mapping. I am curious to see that!
Although seeing the iDJ Pro with a gaping hole in it … mmmm

ModeratorOf course I could just stick an iPad in there with Cross remote … mmmm some more

ParticipantYou don’t need to leave the hole. Put the ipad back in load up touchosc and you get to create your own custom control interface or alternatively any of the NI modular units fit in that space. Then again that is pretty crazy so I must be 🙂
