You have more tools at your disposal with the controller and you are more comfortable with that platform. I’d agree with Sirenksi on this one. Play with what you know well. This wiil give you time to focus on the crowd (reaction) and entertaining, not having to worry about the technical bits too much.
As far as being able to play on anything, agreed. But not necessarily BEFORE you’ve played your first major gig. If you have been at it regularly for a year, including trying nights with CDJs and you still have trouble with certain gear, then that’s a different story.
