I never knew about Beatport Pro. Is it only for Mac?

I’d also toss in getting a free Spotify account, setting up playlists of tunes you really like (based on genre or something) and then listen to the “radio” they will make based on your picks.

Beatport pro is indeed only for Mac. I’d like to add using last.fm. You get lots of proper recommendations.

Not sure how valuable this is for those outside the country (although I think western europe, especially the northern half could benefit), but being a tad more mainstream as a mobile DJ, I keep an eye on the top and tip lists over at Dutch Dance Lists, http://www.dutchdancelists.com/.

Not a treasure trove of hard to find new stuff, BUT definitely a good indication of what is hot and what is not in (Dutch) clubs. If you are not clubbing weekly anymore (like me), it helps to keep tabs on things and to detect trends.

I tend to base searches on those who are the leading remixers of tracks & then work backwards, i.e. see who’s tracks they seem to work on & then listen to a number of tunes that the artist has put out. You then come across quite a few people that you’ve never listened to previously.

I also listen to the likes of Proton Radio & Frisky Radio (more geared towards Deep House, Progressive etc). They have tracklists on their sites and then go from there.

Twitter is also a good tool – there’s a lot of accounts on there that preview new tracks.

I said this a lot here but there’s a nice website if you want to find artists that make similar songs : http://audiomap.tuneglue.net/ 🙂

Eluke…you should post your “picks” on your social media. Twitter, Facebook, or even make a Tumblr blog and post them.

This will help you gain fans and even be seen as an “influencer”.

The explore part of Soundcloud is a good toolinmy opinion.

Always good to find tracks from producers you may not have heard of, but find out you’re in to their sounds.

Hey. I tried opening http://www.dutchdancelists.com but it looks like there is an issue with the website – as it doesnt seem to open/load.

    Getting an error message.

    Any idea regarding this?

Also, do u suggest any other such sites?

It worked til yesterday or the day before (last time I checked it). I get an error now too. Probably a glitch in the server. Our easter weekend includes monday, so everybody is off.

    Might wanna check again tomorrow.
