    I used to use a mac book but it died on me

    so took a gamble and picked up a used HP Elitebook 8440p I5 2.4Ghz

    cost me about £250 once i upgraded to 8gb of ram a SSD drive for windows
    its rock solid and runs better than the poor old macbook

    Any MacBook pro build after 2010 will do (make sure to have at least 4gigs RAM).
    Any MacBook Air build after 2011 will do (make sure to have at least 4 gigs RAM).

    Now with Serato DJ 1.6.1 make sure to install Mavericks.

    Found a smashing deal on eBay for a June 2012 MacBook Pro. 2.5 GHz i5 with 4GB RAM and 500GB HD. Gonna upgrade the RAM later. I have now joined the legion of Mac DJs. Thanks again for the advice!

    Yes, maybe even better than adding to the 4GB memory is getting an SSD instead of or in addition to the HD.

    It’s the best speed bump to be made to any existing laptop, imho.
