I don’t know what gear/system you’re using, however if you are a software based DJ, then software is doing this for whatever length of time. I’m using VDJ and I’ve just cleared the past 3 years history.
If you’re using vinyl or CDJ I guess you have to do it manually.

I use CDJ w/thumb drives external and hard drives. I can use a printout from itunes I guess but I was hoping to maintain a long term history.

If you are using RekordBox compatible CDJs, you should be able to keep a history of what you played and when. Other players don’t have that feature I think

A trick you could do is to use Shazam. It has an auto setting that kinda makes a playlist of whats played I think. Perhaps that can help?

I usually have a pre-made set I’m going to play so that solves that problem!

Save that, you could use pencil and paper 😛

If you want to get a bit more creative, you could have multiple very short playlists (like 4 tracks) that you’ve practiced mixing between. Make sure no song gets repeated in these playlists, then essentially mix between these mini playlsits. This will give you a bit more freeform vibe, it’s easier to remember or at least less to write down (I’ve played trance list 5, for example).

If you use Traktor – it store your play history every time.

It records it by date and time. (Although the time and date is the time and date you shut down Traktor – whatch out for that one)

    🙂

He is using CDJ 450 hence that has no Traktor Integration other than if he had timecodes and an audio card… with which he could use any DJ software from which each one can track what you have played (and in case of Serato even publish it live on your website…). Please stay on the original asked questions…
