ParticipantI don’t know because I haven’t recorded with VDJ, but I can tell you that I’m unhappy with Traktor’s recording quality.

Participanttraktor records in .wav format. which is alot higher quality than mp3. you can convert it to aac in itunes which is compatable with most other programs. or u can convert to mp3 using some other 3rd party software. make sure u have the mix recorder set to internal to record youdr mixes using the traktor software.
vdj records directly to mp3 format. pretty convenient if u ask me. but whatever both record and do their job.

First time I’ve ever heard anyone complain about .wav sound quality vs mp3.
I think the main reason why Traktor doesn’t record in mp3 format is due to licensing fees.April 15, 2012 at 6:11 pm #18580Fressure

ParticipantWhen I used to record to mp3 with virtual dj, it sounded garbled in places, when i used Wav it was clear. I think the difference was due to the additional processing overhead that is required to convert the audio into mp3, on less powerful machines running virtual dj was enough to convert audio to mp3 was too much. So in the end I stuck with WAV (little conversion needed as its captured in a similar format) and converted with Audacity using the lame plugin. I now do the same with traktor.

ParticipantI have been recording mp3’s with VDJ at 192 bit rate and never had any problems, no glitches, no static, no nothing. It has worked perfectly fine with me. You have the option to record as WAV as well, which is a larger file with much more quality, but mp3’s at 192 is also pretty darn good. I have used traktor before, but have never recorded with it, but as as soon as I get it set up correctly with my new set up, I will try to record with it as well.
