I think effect combinations in Traktor are most intresting. I use the Mullholand… (don`t know the name exactly) and the reverb. I kill the dry/wet and put the reverb and mullholand up to 85-90% and put them on. Then I slowly bring the dry/wet up, which creates a nice swoooosh sound. In that way I can create my own buildups and drops. And its even good for transitioning.

Technically, LFO locked filters and ring modulators are synthesizer modules, not “effects” per se. The cynic in me wants to say that you don’t, due to the completely destructive nature of them, but if you use them on sparse breaks, or instrument samples (their design intent), you can get a pretty interesting sound. The chorus of a top 40 track definitely doesn’t need a ringmod carrier splitting it, but a synth melody or break might sound pretty cool with it.

I started messing around with Mulholland Dr. (for no other reason than I’m a huge David Lynch fan) and can’t figure out what it does. Sometimes it’s a hiss/buzz and sometimes it’s nothing (maybe that’s why it’s named what it is :)). I’ve also no idea what the “pulse” variation is, but Shishdisma is right, all the more obscure effects are much more suited for breaks and light melodies than choruses and drops. I have a feeling Traktor included all those fringe effects more for the sake of “look how many effects I have” than for actual mixing use.

Speaking of, what do you do to use Bouncer effectively?

It’s like everything, Practice , Practice , Practice, you will know when to use it and when not.
