A Traktor Audio 2 would be enough, all you need is a four-channel (two stereo) sound card. To use an external mixer, you would need to configure traktor’s audio settings in ‘external mixer mode’. I believe the Audio 2’s outs are TRS, so you would need a TRS to RCA cable to plug into the mixer. I guess that’s it…

An Audio 2 would do everything you need done. For every deck you want to use with Traktor, you need an output. So, if you want to do more than 2-deck mixing (using an external mixer), you’d need an audio interface with more outputs.

Also, keep in mind that with the Audio 2, if you ever want to use internal mixing, one of your outputs would be used up for headphones (as opposed to say, an Audio 6 which has more outputs)

hi guys-im quite new on the scene and i have an issue-i have a xone db4 which i know that it can control traktor but it is a bit hard’ish because you have to change layers thru midi shift all the time! now,i was thinking of buying a traktor f1 controller to use with the db4 and my question is: do i need a separate sound card or i can use the db4’s one in conjuction with the f1-so,f1,db4 and my mabook! is this possible? thanx

The F1 is a controller to give you control over specific features of the Traktor software, it has no sound card and won’t affect the way you use the DB4 sound card.

Thanks a lot Phil! I think i’ll go for one then. I was also looking at the zomo mc1000 or the xone k2 but i think this will make things a bit more complicated no? What do you reckon? I love the db4 and all i want is to control the play, cue’s and loops on traktor easier-excuse my ”stupidity” but there’s so much out there it really drives me nuts especially when you don’t have much knowledge….Thank you

Hi Phil-got the X1 to go with the db4-the db4 went back for an LED replacement so i’ve tried to play with the X1 and a novation twitch-now,the trouble is that after i manage to route the sound thru novation’s soundcard I have no control over the faders-signal goin thru twitch but the faders for decks A and B do nothing! What am I doing wrong as I’m afraid it will do the same with the xone db4 although the DB4 is a standalone mixer as well!?!?

It’s hard to even understand what your issue is here. Step back and work out the difference between Midi controllers controlling software, and audio interfaces. You’re trying to set up some pretty advanced gear but without understanding these basics you’ll struggle. Read all the manuals. Work each piece of kit out one at a time.
