ParticipantWell out of your budget I would strongly recommend a Mixtrak Pro over any of the other controllers you mentioned.
Hercules, Reloop and American Audio are all very low budget low quality IMO!If you want a better controller than Mixtrak Pro from Numark you should get a better controller considdering quality and fuctions.
Then IMO there is Denon MC6000 Denon MC3000 Numark NS6 or Native Instruments S4 or S2
Those are IMO the top of the line controllers that has better quality.
The only low budget controller that has decent quality is Mixtrak Pro.NI S2/S4 are more or less exclusive to NI Traktor so you have to run Traktor on those!
Numark NS6 is an ITCH controller so you more or less has to run ITCH on that
Denon MC6000 and MC3000 are good for any software (Traktor VDJ + more) except ITCH that is only bundlesd with certified controllers. So you have to decide wich software to use b4 chosing controller or exclude Itch and get a Denon MC6000 or MC3000.
It comes with Traktor LE in EU and VDJ LE in USPS NI S2 has reduced price until 31/3 -2012

ParticipantWow thanks for the swift reply,
I had fun with the mixtrack pro but i want something that is a step up in build quality and features such as Gain Controls and possibly VU metering and booth out. Im not to bothered about sticking with VDJ, I WOULD MUCH RATHER THE controller decide which software I should use.

Memberif you have already paid for vdj pro any controller wil work with it, if your using a cracked version then I suggest you buy it so you get access to the plugins which make a hell of a lot of difference…
I disagree with hessler on reloop, the jockey 3 is a great quality controller, Im not sold on the terminal mix 2 as there not released yet so havn’t played on one, but it looks too much like the jockey 2 which is lacking a little, the hercules is terrible and the vms4 has had many issues so has scared many from buying the vms4.1, because of this I haven’t read any reports of the quaity from trusted sources…

Just come to think of it… You could stick to the Mixtrak pro and add for examle an X1 fore more fuctions/creativity…..
And if you are not happy with VDJ Pro you could DL a testverion for free and see what you think of Traktor
I think Traktor is a bit better than VDJ when you are not a beginner as it is more flexible and you can rather easy do your own mappings……March 23, 2012 at 11:24 am #17214gbadegesin
ParticipantFirst and foremost, i think you will be better if you decide the software you want first before looking at the hardware and not the other way round. You do not want to be stuck into a software you do not like.
The MTP is a very good controller. I also second Synthet1c here in that if you are not using VDJ Pro, then you are not really getting the best out of your controller. If you buy another controller, you will have the same issue.
I use VDJ and i have a skin that gives me VDU readings very well, also, the ‘Output 2’ of your MTP is meant and can be used as a booth outMarch 23, 2012 at 12:03 pm #17215synthet1c
MemberI dissagree again LOL, mapping in vdj is cake compared to traktor. Yes in traktor you get dropdown boxes to choose what you want to map, but there is so many you have to choose even for silmple commands. In vdj it as easy as writing something like “play” in the action box, then below that there will appear other similar verbs like “play_pause”, “play_stop”, “play_button”, “play_stutter” etc.. all with descriptions of what they do… VDJ also doesn’t limit modifiers that you can set like traktors 8 modifiers, I would never be able to cope with that few…
