    It is highly not advisible to use studio monitors for any gigg at all period!

    They are built for individual listening in near range with as flat sound as possible.

    If you can not afford to buy then my advice is to rent. And in first hand powered speakers because they are easier to set up for you and they have amps that is tested for that speaker so often they sound better and there is less possibilities to blow the speakers. Amongst other things.

    agreed, for a house party you could get a pretty good powered speaker and a stand for 50 bucks

    Got to reinforce that: Neve ruse your monitors for parties unless you’re happy to break them.
