I can think of two reasons, but that is my own theory!

1 They drop the price because Denon MC3000 is to simular in price and to get their chare of the cake.

2 NI soon anounces Traktor 2.5 and there might be a new S2 MkII or simular to get along with that software.
So they need to get rid of their stock and sell out all units.

Great Points. I don’t know about them dropping a MkII..

but this does go to show you what the markup is on things if they can afford to sell it @ that price point and still make money. I assure you they are not losing money selling them @ the sale price.

Digital DJin has been overpriced for awhile considering what you get for the money both software and hardware. I personally thought the price drop was due to the fact they hadn’t reached their sales targets and were sitting on too many units but dat I can’t prove. Glad for the price drop though as it saved me some dough 🙂

What pisses me off is the dollar price to pound sterling. For some reason in the UK we pay quite a lot more than Americans with no apparent reason………….??

    Why the’re dropping the price…?

Seriously though, probably because of the huge amount of all-in-one controllers on the market that can compete with the S2, it’s like everybody suddenly realized they don’t need 4-channel controllers, and started churning out 2-channel ones.

I agree with Lordamercy – the mid market is price sensitive and NI will still be making money at that price. Numark has smashed it with the Mixtrack Pro which was sensibly priced from the off.
