The DDJ-T1 comes with a setting file you can download from the Pioneer website for Traktor Pro 2. This then lets you use decks C & D as samples decks and loop recording. Once you install it you can configure the decks the way you want through the settings in Traktor and its easy to switch back and forth depending on whether you want C & D as regular or samples decks. Here are the relevant links.

For the question on the Kontrol x1 its perfect for using as a sample deck. Im not overly pleased with the mapping that comes with it but it really is easy enough to change it to how you want it. There is also a very good mapping on tracktorbible for this aswell.
If i choose the DDJ T1 as my next upgrade i will still be using the x1 alongside it.

Already tried those mappings, wasn’t a big fan.

Gonna order myself an X1 next week.

@shr3dder have to agree with you about those mappings, they’re not the greatest, especially having to use the needle search strip.

The annoying thing is that being such a large controller there was plenty of room for Pioneer to place a few assignable buttons on each deck to “future proof” it a little bit. Especially seeing as though TP2 came out just a year after the DDJ.

Oh well, let us know how you get on with the X1 and if the pairing with the DDJ works well.
