MemberNot going to lie, I kinda dig this track man. I just feel that with a little bit of improvement it could become even better, I feel that some of the transitions are a little off. But keep up the hard work, and keep doing what you love.

Thanks, I appreciate that Johnny . A friend of mine, a long time house producer and DJ said that having the back ground of having been a DJ, is very beneficial in creating tracks. I have all the inspiration and ideas of where I want to take things… from all the years of being so deeply in love with music. etc,. It’s just gonna take a very long time to develop the technical skills to be able to do it :-p.

Yeah man it does take a long time to develop the skills, heck I’ve been producing music for six years now and I still haven’t found my own sound, if you get what I mean. It takes a lot of hard work to learn all of this and not give up there’s been a few times where I wanted to give up on it all and quit but I stuck with it because its the one thing I love the most. Music can be like an emotional journey, I hope that doesn’t sound weird or funny. I guess what I’m trying to say is keep producing music for the right reason, I produce simply because its the only way I can get my emotions out I find.

MemberSure , I understand what you mean with your own sound. As it is that track you heard is heavily influenced a particular House music artist(Dubtribe Sound System), that I had the fortune to befriend, after years of being a follower. Having Dj’ed for near 21 years now, I have a good feel for the general direction I want proceed when it comes to creating. Not the sond per se, but the way in which I want to combine the two into one experience for the listener. When it comes to Djing side of me . I’m a bit odd in that I truly at am my best in front of a crowd. Nothing is more inspirational to my set than that interactive experience I get when so emotionally involved , with the crowd..or one single person out on the floor for that matter. So yes, a lot of technical skill is going to be needed on my part, to be able to do what I want do do.
Johnny, where can I find samples of what you’ve created?February 20, 2012 at 3:36 pm #15284Johnnystorm
MemberI’m actually the same way, I like to get my crowd involved and make it a fun and great experience for them. As far as having music out goes, I one track online so far but that’s because of the fact I’ve been working hard on my new track making it sound good and better then before, if that make’s sense. Anyway here’s a track I did for a contest back in the summer of 2011, its different then what I’m doing now though so.

MemberI dig the minimalistic side of this track of yours. The other elements seem , to me, to go in a different direction and not meld so smoothly..for *my* taste. Of course I have no technical skills , so I’m just critiquing from the side of my personal tastes ;-). Check out this video of Dubtribe, I want you to get an idea of where my inspiration derives from. It’s only a very , very, small sample of their capabilities and talent..but least you’ll get a taste . The tracks are their own, they use the tracks ..and create on the fly ..live. Nothing quite like experiencing a live show from Dubtribe …:

Haha man I get what you mean, to be honest I don’t really like that track I did myself it was just for a contest and I just threw it together only using the samples they gave me so. Also those guys are actually pretty good, I like what they’re doing. Here’s my favourite track of all time, I’m trying to create something like it at the moment.
Oh and I mostly produce progressive house and trance now as well.

All I have is my computer, monitor, speakers, headphones, midi keyboard, and mixer. That’s it really, been wanting to switch my computer speakers with some pro ones its just I don’t have that kind of money to spend right now so its not an option so I just produce using my Sony Mdr- 2000’s. What about you man? Also would you have any tips on how I should have my studio set up to be like? And sadly I don’t play anyway, been meaning to take piano lessons though.

MemberOh no Sir, remember as far as creating music, I’ve just begun to get my feet wet in developing technical skills! I was just curious . I wish I knew piano too, a lot more complex melodies could be accomplished if I did. I feel so limited.
